Each and every child deserves to be given every opportunity to reach their full potential. Identifying an individual's needs and strengths is a major responsibility of educators. Once they have identified a stage of development, educators must then challenge students with the next level of learning and with challenges that will require the individual to apply what they have learnt into a new setting. At BUPS, every teacher is responsible for extending the learning needs of individuals, in the classroom, as well as through programs such as our High Achievers program, the Instrumental Music program, Extension Maths program and Gateways. Events such as our Chess and Debating tournaments, Equestrian events, the Victorian State Schools Spectacular and Interschool sport, provide rich opportunities to children who have talents in those areas. Each term, teachers from grades 3-6 nominate children for the high achievers program. The focus of the program varies from term to term and may include the topics of Maths, Literacy, Performing Arts, Ict, Visual Arts And Sustainability.
