Our House system

Every child at Beaconsfield Upper Primary School is placed into one of four houses:

Emerald
Guys Hill
Cardinia
Dewhurst

which they stay in until they graduate from Primary School. Students are generally placed in the same House as siblings. Students can earn points in the classroom, out in the yard, sporting events and in the classroom. These points are collated together on a fortnightly basis and our student leaders are responsible for both the collection of pints across the school and the announcement each assembly of the fortnightly totals, this is done for the junior school and the senior school. The House with the most points for the year is declared the winner

One of the main strengths of the House System is providing students of all ages the opportunity to work together, creating a truly cohesive environment and ensuring that age is not a barrier to friendship and collaboration. Of course, it is not only students who are allocated a House, staff are also involved. The sense of community that pervades throughout the school would, arguably, be incomplete if students were not given the opportunity to interact with teachers beyond those they see in the classroom, thereby encouraging ‘stronger relationships between adults and students’
